Getting food to the people who need it
The Pantry is Grounded Community’s food support project in Boscombe.
Every day, we rescue surplus food from supermarkets, allotments, and local businesses, and make sure it reaches people who can use it, instead of ending up in landfill.
Alongside surplus collections, we also provide fresh, seasonal, chemical‑free fruit and vegetables grown in our gardens, home‑growing spaces and allotments
Everything we redistribute is about easing pressure, reducing waste, and most importantly supporting our community with dignity.
What we do..
- Surplus collections – Volunteer drivers collect unwanted food from local businesses every day.
- Free Food Foyer – Open daily, anyone can come and help themselves to surplus food.
- Weekly £2 Pantry Shops – Affordable weekly shops with no registration or referral required.
- Fresh produce – Seasonal vegetables grown from our garden goes straight back into the community.
- Support for charities – We donate tons of food to hostels, other food community groups, ethnic cooking groups and organisations supporting people in need across BCP.

Our vision
We want a community where food is never wasted and everyone has access to good, nutritious ingredients.
Everyone should have access to fresh affordable healthy food!
To get there, we’re working towards:
- Reducing food waste
- Educating households on food storage, freezing, and waste reduction.
- Creating surplus kitchens where rescued ingredients can be cooked and shared.
- Expanding our collections.
- Building simple drop‑off systems for charities and care organisations.
Who we support
- Households – Anyone facing hardship can come to The Pantry.
- No criteria, no forms, no registration.
- Charities & community groups – Hostels, projects and organisations supporting people in need.
- Other food projects – We donate surplus food to multiple food‑support organisations across the area.
We keep the process simple – no long forms, no complicated referrals. Just come down and ask.
