Feeling fruity?

Do you have a surplus of fruit from trees or bushes in your garden? Or perhaps you fancy peeling, chopping and cooking up soups and sauces at one of our regular preserving sessions? You could even go and hunt for foraged or fallen fruits for us?
The aim of Grounded Gatherers is to put surplus fruit to good use – whether it’s unwanted fruit from gardens, foraged fruits from public spaces or even supermarket veg that needs using fast. With some funding from The National Lottery Communities Fund, we have created a food space where we are preserving, pickling, cooking, dehydrating and storing foods.
HOW CAN WE PUT SURPLUS FOOD TO GOOD USE?
We have an abundance of food in the world – however, 50% of global food is wasted! What can we do locally to change this?
- We can plan our shopping and meals.
- We can support local farms where possible.
- We can be aware of what food is available around us.
- Do we or our neighbours have fruit trees or bushes that we get gluts of unused produce?
At Grounded Community we are aware of the waste but want to get more organised about using that surplus for feeding our community. Grounded Gatherers is our response to this.

Join us for foraging or cookery sessions on alternate Wednesday and Thursdays, 6pm-8:30pm.
Depending on the weather and surplus food available, we may be out in the wild or in the kitchen. Please contact us using one of the methods above for details about the next session.
