Project Description
COMMUNITY
Reconnecting with nature, with food and with each other

At Grounded, we believe that food can unite people. From workshops and family days to volunteer sessions, special projects and regular food gatherings, we bring people together in all sorts of ways.
We’re also into community-organising too. We’re working with others to build a collaborative, thriving neighbourhood in Boscombe by creating networks of growers, and by connecting with our own neighbours at our Secret Garden. We share space with the Bournemouth Foodbank and link up with the ‘Love Your Neighbour’ project through our neighbours at St Clements Church.
We hear a lot of people talk about being ‘self sufficient’ but we want to see our neighbourhood become ‘community sufficient’. We’re working with Your Planet Doctors on a vision to establish hubs where 8-10 households can connect and grow together. We don’t all need to do things the same way but we can unite through common goals to make our community a really sustainable and friendly place to live.
GROUNDED GATHERERS
More than 50% of global food is wasted. At Grounded, we want to do our bit to change that.
We’ve created a food space where we can preserve, pickle, cook, dehydrate and store foods, and we’re looking for local people to help us. Could you contribute unwanted fruit from fruit trees? Go foraging for fallen fruit? Or join us at one of our regular preserving sessions to peel, chop and cook up soups and sauces?
