grounded greens

Tiny Plants. Big Impact.

From food waste to nutrient-packed microgreens — discover how Grounded Greens is growing
something good for people, plates, and the planet.

Grounded Greens is a local microgreens project with a difference. We take food waste, turn it into rich compost, and grow tiny, nutrient-packed plants bursting with flavour. Then we sell them locally – and use the profits to support community food education, growing, and wellbeing. Every tray of microgreens you buy doesn’t just taste good – it does good. From fighting food waste and improving nutrition, to offering hands-on volunteering opportunities, this is food with purpose. Grown right here, by local people, for local people.

Want In? Here’s How:

Whether you’re a home cook, a chef, a local food lover or someone who wants to make a difference, there’s a way for you to get involved.

The Big Idea – From Waste to Wonder

At Grounded Community, we believe nothing should go to waste – especially not food. That’s why we created Grounded Greens, a microgreens project turning local food waste into living nutrition.

Using compost we’ve made ourselves from community food scraps, we grow tiny, flavour-packed plants with a huge nutritional punch. And the best part? Every tray supports our mission to make good food accessible to everyone.

What Exactly Are Microgreens?

Microgreens are young, edible shoots of plants like broccoli, radish or pea. Harvested just after sprouting, they’re bursting with flavour and packed with nutrients – sometimes up to 40x more than their full-grown versions!

  • Easy to use
  • Big flavour in a small bite
  • Great for salads, smoothies, toppings & garnishes
  •  Ready in just 7–10 days from seed to harvest

Our Growing Process

1.  We compost local food waste – turning scraps into rich, healthy soil.
2. We grow microgreens – using minimal space, water, and time.
3. We invite volunteers – to help us grow and learn together.
4. We harvest & sell locally – feeding both people and purpose.
5. We reinvest profits – into Grounded’s food and education projects.

This isn’t just farming. It’s circular, sustainable food for change

Nutrient-Dense. Planet-Friendly. People-First.

By growing and sharing microgreens, we’re addressing:

● Nutrition – fighting food inequality with powerful, healthy greens
● Sustainability – reducing food waste and growing with care
● Community – creating volunteering and learning opportunities

Every tray sold supports more people learning, growing, and eating well.

Let’s Grow Something Good Together

Grounded Greens is about more than just plants. It’s about creating a more connected, resilient and healthy community – one tray of greens at a time.
